At Unosaúde, Dr Leandro Ribeiro is primarily dedicated to the assessment and interventional treatment of persistent or difficult-to-control pain. His practice includes minimally invasive procedures such as rhizotomy and neurolysis — including in the cervical region — and neuromodulation techniques using neurostimulators. Care is individualised, and each procedure is only recommended after careful clinical assessment.

Medical degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, specialist training in Neurosurgery in Germany, and advanced training in pain treatment and minimally invasive procedures.

Between 2021 and 2023, he worked at Hospital Espírito Santo de Évora, where he was one of the physicians responsible for establishing the Neurosurgery Department.

In Germany, he worked at the spinal cord injury centre of Werner Wicker Klinik and completed his specialist training in Neurosurgery at Helios Hospital Krefeld, after foundational training in General Surgery at Bad Säckingen Hospital.

His career also includes several years of experience in hospital emergency medicine and pre-hospital emergency care at Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve, including work with the VMER emergency response unit.

Clinical experience and approach

She obtained her medical degree from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, after beginning her medical education in Cuba.

She began her professional career in Portugal in Emergency Medicine and Primary Care before moving to Germany, where she completed most of her specialist training.

Between 2013 and 2022, she worked in German university hospitals and referral centres, completed her specialisation in Neurology and gained experience in diagnosing and treating complex neurological diseases.

After qualifying as a specialist, she worked as a neurologist in several Stroke Units and neurological emergency departments in Germany, consolidating her experience in stroke care and neurological emergencies.

She regularly takes part in national and international congresses, courses and scientific meetings, ensuring continuous development of her clinical practice.

Clinical experience and approach

Over several years of practice in Switzerland, she developed a comprehensive and integrated approach to mental health in university hospital, outpatient and home-care settings, working in multidisciplinary teams with people presenting a wide range of clinical needs.

She took responsibility for training resident doctors, coordinating multidisciplinary teams in dementia units, and providing clinical leadership for a day hospital, crisis unit and home-care teams for people over 65.

She also worked as a consultant in Liaison Psychiatry, collaborating with intensive care, inpatient, emergency and continuing-care units while maintaining individual psychotherapy work.

This experience enabled her to develop advanced skills and subspecialise in Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and Liaison Psychiatry, combining scientific rigour, clinical leadership, multidisciplinary work and person-centred care.

Clinical experience and approach

His career is distinguished by a dedicated focus on medical shockwave treatments. He is a full member and Board Officer of the Spanish Society for Shockwave Treatments (SETOC) and a full member of the International Society for Medical Shockwave Treatment (ISMST). He was Director of ONLAT’s Shockwave Division in Sports Medicine and a full member and Board Officer of the Colombian Shockwave Society (OCC).

He has published scientific articles and book chapters on Sports Medicine and extracorporeal shockwaves, taught certification courses in Latin America and Europe, and supervised a University of Barcelona Master’s dissertation in this field. He is currently a certified instructor in extracorporeal shockwave therapy.

His training and experience in Sports Medicine and Sports Traumatology support a rigorous assessment of injury, physical load and each person’s functional goals, including people who do not take part in competitive sport.

In Brazil, he practised Sports Medicine at Sociedade Harmonia de Ténis and at Projeto Futuro of the São Paulo Department of Sport and Tourism, at the Constâncio Vaz Guimarães Sports Complex in Ibirapuera. He also coordinated the Medical Department of Independente Futebol Clube de Limeira.
